When she's not slaying the stage every night as Princess Jasmine in Broadway's production of Aladdin, Courtney Reed is busy bringing the princess life to the rest of us in the form of one very trendy accessory: chokers!
Although Gagged, Reed's choker line, began its life with a collection of mostly Broadway show-inspired pieces, it was only natural that Reed would dip her toes into the Disney pool for inspiration. “I’m obsessed with princesses,” she told People Style. “I mean, who’s not? With the success of the Broadway Collection, we thought, ‘Oh my gosh! What if we did a Princess Collection with our favorite Broadway divas modeling them?’ It has been such a blast.”
Reed has rolled out her enchanted new line of chokers with a little help from her fellow Broadway princesses. It was only natural that she would model the Jasmine-inspired bling, but she expressed that she couldn't have completed her vision without ladies like Hamilton and A Bronx Tale star Ariana Debose, who modeled the Princess Tiana-inspired piece...
...Sierra Boggess, who played Ariel in Broadway's The Little Mermaid, and naturally stepped back into the mermaid's shoes to rock this sparkly choker...
...and Ashley Spencer, whose been in everything from Hairspray to Rock of Ages, and now this delicate, icy choker inspired by Disney's newest princess, Elsa.
How does someone with the demanding life of a Broadway star also have a creative business, you ask? She simply loves to make them, 30 per day. “I try and make chokers literally any time I have down time," she told People Style. "I even make them when I have friends over. I made seven [a day] when I first started. I’m much faster now.”
